Executives in Charge Must Help
Improve People's Religious and Living Condition

Addressing a number of students at His Kharij class of Fiqh Grand Ayatollah Fazel Lankarani appealed executives in charge of the affairs of the country to help strengthen the religious and living condition of the people as well as revive the religious obligation of 'enjoining good and forbidding evil' in the society.

In regards to the revolution of Imam Husain, His Eminence said: "During his time and following Mu'aviah's period when the government fell in Yazid's hand, Imam Husain observed that Islam was going to be destroyed and eliminated. So in order to save Islam, he decided to fulfill his responsibility with his and his companions and children's martyrdom and accept the sufferings of his household at Yazid's soldiers.  The great lesson that we take from the event of Ashura is that all of us are responsible with regards to the protection of Islam. The respected religious scholars and preachers must explain the lessons of Ashura to the people and strengthen the tradition of Amr bil ma'ruf and Nahy anil munkar (enjoining good and forbidding evil) which is one of the most important injunctions and a supervising institution in Islam.

In Islam, men are responsible towards women and women are responsible towards men and they are both responsible towards the society and people from all strata are responsible towards one another. Therefore, all of us should struggle to revive this religious obligation and by doing so strengthen our love and belief in Imam Husain.

With reference to the Ten Days of the Dawn of the Islamic Revolution, Grand Ayatollah Fazel said, "Symbolizing the event of Ashura Imam Khumeini launched and set up this great movement. Imam Khomeini's revolution was a lesson that was taken from the revolution of Imam Husain, the Lord of Martyrs.  Our people should know that Shah's despotic government had no regard for people's property, honor and most importantly their religious beliefs. Rather, it was trying to eradicate them and Pahlavi's life history stands a witness to it.  All of us must know the extreme importance of this revolution and the responsible individuals should realize the high value of the great people so they must make their efforts to best serve them. They should also understand that based on the purports of the Quranic verse "Those who, should We establish them in the land, will keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and enjoin good and forbid evil And Allah's is the end of affairs." {Chap 22:41} God wants that after the establishment of the government, they should buttress people's religious and living pillars and further revive the obligation of Amr bil-ma'ruf and Nahai annil munkar.
