Salat-e Ayat (Ayat Prayer)

338 - One of the obligatory prayers is the Ayat prayer and becomes obligatory due to the following reasons:
Earthquakes, Solar eclipse, Lunar eclipse, thunder and lighting , red and yellow cyclones ,which frighten most of the people.

Method of Salat-e Ayat

339 - Namaz-e Ayat consists of two Rak-ats and there are five Ruku in each.  After making the Niyyat for offering the prayers, one should say Takbir (Allah Akbar) and recite Surah Al-Hamd and the other Surah, and then perform the Ruku. Thereafter, he/she should stand and recite Surah Al-Hamd and a Surah and then perform another Ruku.  He/she should repeat this action five times, and when he/she stands after the fifth Ruku, he/she should perform two sajdahs, and then stand upto perform the second Rak-at in the same manner as he/she did in the first.  Next he/she should recite Tashahhud and salam.  Salat-eAyat can also be offered in the another manner. It can be divided into verses of the other Surah into five parts before every Ruku in this method, in two Rak-at, two Surah Al-Hamd and two Surahs are recited.

First Rak-at

After saying Takbir, a person recites SurahAl-Hamd, and he/she may says: Bismillahir Rakmanir Rahim with the Niyyat of reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas, and performs the Ruku.  He/she should then stand up and say: Qul huwallahu Ahad, and perform the Ruku. He should then stand up and say: Allahu Samad,and perform third Ruku. Thereafter, he/she should stand up again and say:
Lam Yalid Walam yulad, and perform the fourth Ruku. Then he/she should stand up again and say: Walam yakullahu kufuwanahad, and then perform two Sajdahs and ries for the second Rak-at.

Second Rak-at

In the same way as the first Rak-at. At the end, he/she should recite Tashahhud and salam after the two Sajdahs.

The rules of Ayat Preyer

340 - Offering of Salat-e- Ayat is obligatory for the residents of only that town in which the event takes place.  It is not obligatory for the people of other towns.

341 - If in one Rak-at of Salat-e- Ayat a person after Surah Al-Hamd recites another Surah five times, and in the second Rak-at recites Surah Al-Hamd and divides the other Surah into five parts, this prayer is valid.

342 - It is Mustahab that Qunut be recited before the second, forth, sixth, eighth, tenth Ruku, but it will be sufficient if Qunut is recited only before the tenth Ruku.

343 - Every Ruku of Salat-e- Ayat is Ruku, and if any addition or deduction takes place in them intentionally or unintentionally, the preyer is void.

344 - Salat-e- Ayat can be offered in congregation, in this case only the Imam recites Surah Al-Hamd and the Surah.
