Conditions of Friday prayer.

1539. Friday prayer must be held in mass and it cannot be offered individually.

1540. All conditions of mass prayer are observed as an obligation in Friday prayer, such as lack of hindrance, place of Imam or prayer leader which should not be higher than others, lack of much distance and so on.

1541. All necessary qualifications for mass prayers leader are obligatory for Friday prayer leader, such as: being sane, having strong faith, legitimacy and justice. Leadership of children and women in Friday prayer is not permissible; but in other prayers a discerning child can lead others and for women, it is better not to do this, as an obligatory precaution.

1542. It is obligatory for every Mukallaf free man, who is not a traveler and blind, old and very weak, to participate in Friday prayer, provided that his distance from the place of offering prayer is not more than two Farsakhs. Therefore, for anyone who has not one of those conditions, it is not obligatory to move towards the place of Friday prayer, even if it is Taieni obligation (a determined obligation such as fasting), and it is not very hard to do that.

1543. The minimum distance between two Friday prayers must be one Farsakh.

1544. The minimum number of people for Friday prayer is 5 persons, one of whom will be the leader. Hence, it is not obligatory to offer Friday prayer with less than 5 persons; but if they are 7 persons or more, it is much better.

1545. If the obligatory conditions are met, Friday prayer will be obligatory for people of cities and towns and their suburbs and villagers and people living in tents and desert dwellers.

1546. Those who lack conditions for obligatory Friday prayer, if they are present in Friday prayer by chance or after tolerating hardships, their prayers are correct and Zuhr prayer is not obligatory for them. Also, those who take part in Friday prayer, in spite of rainy or cold weather or some physical defection which causes hardship and waiver of obligation for participation, their Namaz is correct. But if an insane person takes part in Friday prayer, it is not in order. However, Friday prayer of boys who are not Baligh is correct, although they cannot be counted as one of the members of minimum figure (5) and they cannot perform Friday prayer by themselves.

1547. Traveler can take part in Friday prayer. And in this case, Zuhr prayer is not obligatory.
But travelers cannot offer Friday prayer by themselves (without other participants), and in such cases, Zuhr prayer is obligatory for them and a traveler cannot be counted as one of the members of minimum figure (5), but if travelers intend to stay somewhere (10 days or more), they may perform Friday prayer.

1548. Women can take part in Friday prayer and it is correct and separate from Zuhr prayer; but they cannot offer Friday prayer themselves (without participation of men) and they are not counted as a member of the minimum figure (5), because Friday prayer as offered originally by men.

1549. Khonsa Moshkeleh can participate in Friday prayer that cannot be considered as a member of the minimum figure (5) or leader of prayer. Hence, if there are only 4 others, except than such a person Friday prayer is not offered and Zuhr prayer should be offered.
