Time of Friday prayer.

1550. The time of Friday prayer starts with the decline of the sun (midday) and until such time that the length of indicator pole reaches two normal steps. But, as an obligatory precaution, it should not be delayed until the passing of earlier part of decline of the sun in customary concept and if it is delayed, as a recommendatory precaution, Zuhr prayer should be offered.

1551. If Friday prayer leader starts sermons before the above-said decline of the sun and finishes it at that time and starts prayer, it is in order.

1552. It is not permissible for the leader of Friday prayer to make sermons so long as to pass over prayer time; and otherwise Zuhr prayer should be offered, because Friday prayer has no Qadha out of its set time.

1553. If the proper time of Friday prayer is over in the middle of prayers, if one Rak’at if offered already, it is in order; but, as a recommendatory precaution, after it is over. Zuhr prayer should be offered and if even one Rak’at is not finished, it is void. And, as a recommendatory precaution, it must be completed and later Zuhr prayer be offered.

1554. If the Friday prayer is intentionally delayed until such time that only enough time remains for one Rak’at, then, as an obligatory precaution, Zuhr prayer should be offered.

1555. If it is certain that enough time exists for the minimum obligations of two sermons and two Rak’ats of Namaz, then there is a choice between Friday prayer and Zuhr prayer. And if it is certain that there is enough time, then Zuhr prayer should be offered. And if it transpires after prayer that there was not even time for one Rak’at, then Zuhr prayer should be offered, although, as a recommendatory precaution, even if one Rak’at was offered in proper time, Zuhr prayer should be offered.

1556. If the time is clear but there is doubt whether Friday prayer can be offered or not, it is permissible to start it; and if the time is enough, the prayer is in order. Otherwise, Zuhr prayer should be offered, but the recommendatory precaution is to offer Zuhr prayer originally.

1557. If the Friday prayer has started with required conditions about the number of participants and time, but a person has not reached its first Rak’at, if he joins in second Rak’at, even to its Ruku and starts following the leader, his Namaz is in order (provided that he knows that there is enough time to offer second Rak’at in that time). In this case he may offer another Rak’at individually; but a person who has not heard the Takbir of Ruku in the second Rak’at of leader, it is better for him to turn his Niyyat to Zuhr prayer and offer Zuhr prayer.
